No boat ramps, docks, nor even paved roads. Just need a beach or bank at the water’s edge. Easily fits inside your car, RV, yacht, or plane.

easy to repair

Broken part? Just order a replacement. Hole in the hull? Just patch with glue and be on your way; no sanding, fiberglass, or paint/gelcoat to fuss with.

Easy to Stow

Winterize? Shelf in the garage, lazarette, or even the hallway closet. No need for an expensive slip, moorage, or drydock.

Limitless possibilities

Sail in the bay, the tropics, or a mountain lake. Bring it along in a car, plane, RV, yacht, or off-road...wherever your adventures takes you.

Happy Customers

I cannot recommend Sailing Awaits  highly enough. The company, based in  Kenmore Washington was life-saver... actually a vacation saver during the recent epidemic... My family had organized a 2 month vacation, based on a house rental on a secluded Bahamas island and sailing! To that end we ordered a new, glass, beach catamaran from a well known and reputable company. But despite ordering 6 months in advance of our vacation dates, the company was unable to deliver and with a week to go and no boat, I discovered Sailing Awaits and a MiniCat 460 in their inventory. The craft turned up 3 days later, was taken by air to the Bahamas and has proven an absolute joy, now in our 3rd season. More than that, Alfred has assisted us every step of the way...I love to sail but am all thumbs in putting things together...In all respects, he stood by us (via the internet) and guided us through the process of getting the Cat ready for sea...and with wonderful advice along the way. Customer service is a 5+. I’ve been around boats most of adult life...I have one of the last New England style boatyard taking wonderful care of my C&C, keeping it in top shape....I thought companies like that hardly existed anymore.
Sailing Awaits is right up there.

We made it to South Baja California and I have sailed with the new Minicat multiple times. A few of my friends have tried the boat and they really like it. Thank you for all your help this year.

Frequently
Asked
Questions

  • As with all watersports, sailing is not without risks. Weather conditions can change suddenly and deteriorate quickly. There can be unique local hazards. Not knowing how to handle the boat or yourself in such circumstances can result in injury or death. That said, sailing can be self-taught, just be safety conscious. Beginners should start with smaller bodies of water, where you are always near shore and be able to seek the help of others. Wear a personal floatation device, dress appropriately especially for the temperature of the water. Build your confidence, but know your limits.

  • Yes, by private appointment in the greater Seattle area. For a private appointment, please contact us. All participants will need to agree to and sign our Liability Waiver. Personal Floatation Devices (PFDs) are available upon request.

  • Orders are normally processed within 1-2 business days. In-stock boats, parts, and accessories are shipped via FedEx Ground or USPS from our Woodinville, WA warehouse and usually takes 3-10 days in transit. Special orders can take 3-5 weeks or more and may encounter customs processing delays. Will-call at our Woodinville, WA warehouse is available by appointment.

  • Through us, of course. Just contact us. As the boats are modular, each part can be replaced as needed to keep your boat in top condition. And because we carry inventory, we can express mail you a part to save your vacation. But because the design of the boat is simple, replacement/repair of most parts is possible in a pinch with off-the-shelf components from your local marine supplier. Note that rivets rather than screws are recommended for some parts.

  • We stand behind our products and want you to be happy with your purchase. Should an item not meet expectations, it can be returned in its original condition within 10 days from the date of delivery less shipping charges and 15% restocking fee. Any signs of assembly, use, or other damage will incur additional charges or refusal. Further details can be found on our policies page.

  • The criteria requiring title and registration of sail-powered vessels vary by state. As of writing, WA: title is required of all vessels, and registration is required for sailboats over 16’ or if motorized on federal waters - WAC 308-93-030 and RCW 88.02.570(8). OR: title is required of all vessels, and registration is required for sailboats over 12’ or if motorized - ORS 830.705(2). CA: title is required of all vessels, and registration is required for sailboats over 8’ or if motorized - CCP VEH.9873(e). Others: Here’s our Complete Guide on Sailboat Registration by State.

  • As checked baggage on most airlines as long as it doesn’t exceed the airline’s maximum oversize/overweight limits. Oversize fees would most likely apply to all boats as the largest components are 5’ to 6’ long. Overweight fees may also apply, but it may be possible to split the weight across multiple bags to stay within standard weight limits. It may qualify for a “sports equipment discount” on some airlines, but definition varies. Please check with your airline before booking your flight to avoid surprises at the airport.

  • VESSEL SALES TAX. Washington residents are subject to sales tax at place of sale (3.5% Kenmore, 6.5% WA). Unlike other internet-ordered products, destination based sales tax does not apply to vessels. However, since we chose to do business in Kenmore, we will pay the 3.5% Kenmore city sales tax on your behalf, but you will still be responsible for the 6.5% WA state sales tax. Out-of-state/foreign residents are WA sales tax EXEMPT, but may be subject to their state's use tax, especially if subject to title/registration requirements. CANADIAN residents are not subject to GST/HST as we are a US-based entity that does not meet the definition of “carrying on business in Canada”. In addition, European-made boats are not subject to Canadian import tariffs per CETA enacted September 2019. A MIC issued by the United States Coast Guard to a U.S. boat importer/manufacturer is recognized in Canada by reciprocal agreement. In Canada, pleasure craft with 10 HP motors or less are exempt from license and registration.
